Looking for a place to get those loose issue of a journal or your dissertation bound? The Library is the place to go. The Library has approximately 1,000 volumes per year bound by HOUCHEN BINDERY LTD. of Utica, Nebraska. HOUCHEN provides the library with a 4-5 week turnaround service. The library offers bindery service to LUMC departments and individuals.
Bindery Services for Dissertations
Our current binder offers high quality covers that are of round-back, wide-hinged spine, buckram material. Each 2 inch volume will include the title, author and degree printed on the spine in gold lettering. A variety of colors are available to choose from.
- Cost: $20.00 per 2 inch volume. Budget transfer, personal check or exact cash only. $1.00 per line for front cover printing is optional.
- All copies must be picked up at the Library. Copies will not be mailed.
Bindery Services for Journals & Books
Materials to be bound must be delivered to and picked up from the Health Sciences Library. Book carts are available for transporting materials. The cost is $15.00 per volume
- Part 1 of the binding contract needs to be filled out and payment must be made in advance of services rendered by check, exact cash or budget transfer.
- Each volume being bound cannot exceed 2 inches in thickness.
- Each volume needs to be placed in chronological order and rubber-banded together. A binding “worksheet” needs to be attached to each volume with the information to be printed on the spine. Volumes will be bound as submitted. §
- Supplements can be handled one of three ways: 1. Bound separately. 2. At the end of a volume. 3. After the corresponding month. § Remove adds and/or covers if desirable or have the bindery remove them for a considerable fee.
- A variety of colors are available to choose from.
- Supplies for binding preparation are available from the Serials Department or our website under bindery forms.
