Blackwell-Synergy Journals Situation

July 2, 2008 · 1 Comment

On Monday, June 30th, all of the online journals which were previously on the Blackwell-Synergy site were moved to Wiley’s website, InterScience, due to the merger of Wiley-Blackwell’s online journal systems following John Wiley & Sons, Inc. aquisition of Blackwell Publishing.

Librarians were assured that after the transition our access options would continue to function seamlessly. We were also told that “Links to journals on Blackwell Synergy will automatically redirect to Wiley InterScience. There is no need for you to change your links.”

However, this has not been the case.

The following is the most recent update from Wiley about the transition:

We are working hard to ensure a smooth transition for all customers and users, and thank you for your patience during this time of change. Following is a list of the known issues which we are working on as a top priority:

  • OpenURL links — These are currently not redirecting at the journal level but instead default to the Wiley InterScience homepage. We expect this to be resolved within a few days.
  • Access to some subscribed titles is not set up — Submit your request to our Customer Services team here: interscience.wiley.com/support
  • Missing content — see below for the list of content which we are still working on uploading onto Wiley InterScience.
  • DOIs — if these do not resolve correctly to the appropriate article, it may be because we have not yet loaded that article.

If you have any additional queries please contact Wiley-Blackwell customer service at interscience.wiley.com/support.

Some back issues, ceased journals, and other content will not be loaded until after the initial transition. We will be adding missing content over the next 10 days.

Some of our access to (formerly) Blackwell journals has been restored. Most has not, as of yet.

If there are articles that you are unable to access because of this problem, please fill out an InterLibrary Loan request and we will try to get the articles to you as soon as possible.

Updates, when available will be posted here on this blog. Thank you for your patience.
