Journal Deselection list: A-C
In order to maintain a vital collection that meets the needs of our users and utilize the limited space that we will have available once we move into the new School of Nursing, the Health Sciences Library is deselecting materials from our collection. The Library began this process in January 2011 and has gone through the entire journal collection with the first round of removals. Now we are starting the second phase, which includes removing date ranges from specific titles.
Periodically a list of journals slated for deselection will be posted on this blog. When a journal is deselected from the collection, it must meet one or several of the following criteria:
- The item no longer meets the mission of either the Health System or University.
- The item is physically redundant as in the case that electronic access is available.
- The item is not used or is infrequently used
A critical component of any deselection project is to consult with our users about the journals we have identified for deselection. Please email Jean if you have any questions
