Hey everyone!
Just thought I would drop in and say hi! I miss all of you. I’m at Yale and settled in; I’m taking lots of fun classes and making lots of friends. You will be happy to know that I spend a lot of time in the library and am looking for a job in the library here. I have to go do some more homework now, but I’ll look for a post card to mail you. What is the library address again?
Nadia
a couple of questions:
1) do we have access from home of e textbooks such as Harrison’s . If so, do we need to type in another password?
2) Where do I need to go to get access to such items
Yes, we have Harrison’s and other e-books. Go to http://library.luhs.org/hslibrary/e-resources/ebook_alpha.html to see an alphabetical list. In ord to access e-books or other e-resoruces, all you need is an Archer proxy server login and password. If you do not have one, the form is located at http://www.formsite.com/ABCD/ProxyServer/index.html but you must have a LUMC ID to apply.
After reading http://hslibrarynews.wordpress.com/2008/07/11/, I thought this might be a useful resource for your site:
http://www.biomedsearch.com
The site is free, and perhaps the most comprehensive biomedical site on the web. It has all PubMed and MedLine documents, plus mililons more including full-text journal articles and a large database of theses and dissertations.
And, you don’t have to register but if you do you can use portfolios to save documents, share documents (and comment on them) between users, and set up automatic alerts.
